What is Early Years Talk Boost?

Early Years Talk Boost is a structured language intervention programme designed to support children aged 3–4 yearswho have difficulties with their speech, language, and communication skills. It helps boost their confidence and ability to communicate effectively before they start school.

Why is Talk Boost Important?

Many young children enter nursery with delayed language skills, which can impact their ability to:✔ Make friends and interact with others✔ Understand and follow instructions✔ Express their thoughts and feelings✔ Enjoy books, stories, and rhymes✔ Develop strong early learning skills

Talk Boost provides extra support in small groups to help children catch up with their peers and get ready for school.

How Does Talk Boost Work?

🔹 Small Group Sessions – Children take part in fun, interactive sessions led by nursery staff, focusing on speaking, listening, and understanding.🔹 Practical Activities – The programme includes stories, songs, games, and role-play to encourage communication.🔹 Key Areas of Development:🗣 Attention & Listening – Encouraging focus and understanding spoken language.💬 Vocabulary – Learning new words and how to use them.📖 Sentence Building – Helping children form longer and clearer sentences.😊 Social Skills – Supporting turn-taking, sharing, and interacting with others.

How Can You Help at Home?

As a parent, you play a key role in supporting your child’s language development. Here are some simple ways to help:👂 Talk Together – Have daily chats about what they see, do, or feel.📚 Read Stories – Encourage your child to describe pictures and guess what happens next.🎶 Sing Songs & Rhymes – This helps with memory, rhythm, and learning new words.🔄 Take Turns Talking – Play games that involve turn-taking and conversations.🔍 Expand on Their Speech – If your child says, "Big car!" you can respond with, "Yes! A big red car is driving fast!"
