We are excited to celebrate World Book Day and promote a love of reading in our nursery! Throughout the week, we have planned a variety of activities to engage children with books and stories. Here’s how you can get involved at home:
Ways to Join in at Home:
Get Caught Reading: Take a photo of your child reading in the most unusual, inspiring, or funny place you can find and upload it for everyone to see!
Book Swap Event: Bring in books throughout the week to exchange with other children. It’s a great way to discover new stories!
Decorate a Wooden Log: Choose your favourite book character and decorate a wooden log to represent them. We can’t wait to see your creations!
Storytelling in Different Languages: If you speak another language at home, we invite you to come in and read a story to a group of children. Sharing stories in different languages is a wonderful way to celebrate diversity.
Dress Up Day – Thursday, 6th March: Don’t forget to dress up as your favourite book character! We love seeing all the creative costumes.
What’s Happening in the Nursery?
Stop, Drop and Read! Our staff will ring a bell at various times during the day for everyone to stop what they’re doing and enjoy a book.
Library Visits: We’ll be taking the children to visit the library to explore books and listen to stories.
Acting Out Favourite Stories: We’ll bring stories to life by acting them out in fun and imaginative ways.
Exciting Book-Themed Activities: Throughout the week, children will engage in arts, crafts, and sensory play inspired by their favourite books.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled week celebrating the magic of books! Thank you for your support in making World Book Day special for the children.
