Our Approach to Christmas: Information for Parents

ree

At Leapfrog Nursery, Christmas is a magical time—but it’s also an important opportunity for meaningful learning, exploration, and creativity. As part of our blended educational approach, we draw heavily on Curiosity Approachprinciples, which means the process is always more important than the final product.

We want to take a moment to explain what this means for your child’s festive experience with us.

🎄 Christmas Shows: It’s About Confidence, Not Perfection

You may notice that our Christmas performances are relaxed, child-led, and beautifully unpredictable! Some children may sing loudly, some may whisper, others may simply stand and observe—and all of this is absolutely okay.

Why?

  • We value confidence-building, not choreography.

  • We celebrate participation, not perfection.

  • We follow each child’s comfort level, ensuring the experience feels joyful, not pressured.

Every child develops social confidence and communication skills at their own pace. What may look small from the outside is often a huge developmental step for them.

🎨 Christmas Crafts: Created by Children, Not Adults

Your child’s Christmas card, ornament, or artwork may not look like a picture-perfect Pinterest creation—and that’s intentional.

In line with our curiosity-inspired ethos, children:

  • Make their own choices

  • Use open-ended materials

  • Explore textures, tools, and techniques

  • Create with authenticity, not templates

Their creations may look wonderfully “imperfect,” but the learning behind them is rich: fine motor development, creative thinking, sensory exploration, and pride in their own work.

We won’t correct, perfect, or redo a child’s craft—because their work is what matters.

✨ Our Product Ethos: Learning Over Looks

At this time of year especially, we want to reassure families that:

  • We do not focus on producing “perfect” products to take home.

  • We prioritise progress, development, confidence, creativity, and joy.

  • Every child’s contribution is valued exactly as it is.

The true magic of Christmas at Leapfrog comes from children experiencing the season—not performing it.
